I first heard about Enavose when Beetrice reviewed their H2Osis Black Tea Quench Mask last year. It sounded really interesting and went onto a long list of “Products I’d Someday Like To Try”. Lucky for me then that over the months in 2012, I’ve accumulated samples of three different Enavose products from my monthly Bellabox subscription.

Enavose samples
From left to right: Enavose Probiotics Exfoliance Gommage, Enavose H2Osis Black Tea Quench Mask and Enavose Cellogist Youth Guard Cream

Enavose Probiotics Exfoliance Gommage

Probiotics are microorganisms beneficial for perfect skin health. This gentle exfoliating gommage contains a balanced level of good bacteria to eliminate dead cells and comedones, unblock pores and strengthen the skin’s outermost layer to defend against aggressions and bacteria. Supported with bitter almond acid and a soothing flora blend, this renewal gel maintains the skin’s natural moisture barrier and gives new radiance and softness as tired skin is nourished.

Enavose Probiotics Exfoliance Gommage

I like this Gommage a lot! It feels gentler than scrubs and exfoliators and my skin certainly looks brighter and feels wonderfully soft after. I would definitely repurchase this once I manage to work my way through the rest of my (ever-growing) beauty products stash.

Enavose Black Tea Quench Mask

The ultimate hydration haven for thirsty and dehydrated skins, our quenching mask uses Sweet Black Tea to release a profusion of moisture and vitality that deeply replenishes skin’s moisture. It harnesses the power of skin to retain higher levels of water, leaving it feeling velvety soft, incredibly supple and invigorated. Feel the surge of immense moisture and be better equipped to defend against damaging environmental forces.

Enavose H2Osis Black Tea Quench Mask

I followed up using the Gommage with the Black Tea mask. At first I was wondering if it really did anything, because I couldn’t see it, couldn’t smell it and didn’t feel anything. But when I rinsed it off, I was blown away by the combination of the Gommage and the mask. My skin feels clear and soft and refreshed. This is a mask that my finicky, sensitive skin likes. Another definite repurchase for the future.

Enavose Cellogist Youth Guard Cream

Receive the ultimate in protection with this ultra luxurious treatment. Expertly concocted to nourish skin from deep within, the cream bolsters skin’s natural restorative mechanism and effectively fights against environmental stresses. A powerhouse antioxidant trio of Rice, Pomegranate and Resveratrol works in synergistic harmony with our exclusive technology to rejuvenate, firm, hydrate and restore collagen production.

Enavose Cellogist Youth Guard Cream

I used the Youth Guard cream after the Black Tea mask to seal in the moisture and woke up the next morning to lovely, refreshed skin. Not too oily either because I didn’t have a shiny nose. I didn’t use it for long enough to determine whether or not it really has rejuvenating qualities as claimed, but it felt really good.

All in all, I like Enavose’s products and my skin does too, so I’ll definitely be revisiting this brand in the future.

Enavose is available online at their webstore. The Probiotics Exfoliance Gommage retails for SGD 35.00 (80ml), the H2Osis Black Tea Quench mask retails for SGD 59.50 (30ml), and the Cellogist Youth Guard Cream retails for SGD 99.50 (30ml).

Pangea Organics Lip Balm

It isn’t every day that I find a lip balm that I like. Miss Fussypot usually finds something that doesn’t tick all the boxes and then I end up moving on to something else. How else can I explain all the opened and half-used lip balms in my possession? :P

Well, I’m pleased to note that so far, Pangea Organics lip balms are keeping me happy and occupied these days. They’re not entirely as perfect as I’d like them to be but I’m content and prepared to use them for a long, long while. (Hopefully I’ll finish them. Haha.)

pangea organics lip balm 01

Firstly, I like the feel of this lip balm’s packaging. It’s a solid stick and it doesn’t get lost in the black hole of my bag. I also like the fact that Pangea Organics thoughtfully put the twist mechanism of this lip balm at the top third of the stick, rather than having it at the bottom as most other brands I’ve tried do. This means that I can use it one-handed and control the amount and direction of lip balm.

The part about the lip balms that I enjoy the most are the lovely scents that make me feel like I’m indulging in a little bit of aromatherapy. It comes in three variants:

  • Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom – contains organic lavender essential oil, organic Tamanu Oil and organic shea butter. Healing, antioxidant, calming and reviving.
  • Egyptian Fennel, Grapefruit and Sweet Orange – contains sweet orange essential oil, organic Tamanu Oil and organic shea butter. Antioxidant, euphoric, soothing and vitamin-rich.
  • Italian Red Mandarin with Rose – contains Rose Otto essential oil, organic Tamanu Oil and organic shea butter. Soothing, vitamin-rich, hydrating and protecting.

My favorite scent is Lavender, followed by the Rose. I’m a bit on the fence with the Grapefruit as it doesn’t smell like what I’d expected it to smell like but I’m not averse to it either.

Pangea Organics lip balms don’t feel waxy or thick and heavy when applied. Instead, it leaves my lips feeling soft and nicely moisturized. It does have to be reapplied after a few drinks or a meal and by then I’d be looking for my next aromatherapy dose anyway. :P

If you’re looking for a lip balm that makes you feel good, look no further. I’d award it immediate Holy Grail status if ever Pangea Organics decides to make a tinted lip balm but until then, I’m happy to keep on using them.

The only other drawback for these great lip balms could be the price factor. They’re not exactly the cheapest lip balms around. But for the price, I do think they deliver.

Pangea Organics lipbalm is available in Singapore via BellaBox and retails at SGD 14.50 per tube.

What’s inside my Bellabox June 2012

june bellabox

I think of all the Bellaboxes I’ve received thus far, I’m liking the June Bellabox most of all. :D

Themed the Summer Upgrade box, I was extremely psyched to find out that June’s box included sample/travel sizes of the following products:

  • Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
  • Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner
  • Ralph Lauren Romance
  • Biotherm White D-Tox BB Cream
  • Biotherm Lait Corporel Body Moisturizer
  • Lancome Blanc Expert Derm-Crystal
  • Lancome Genifique Youth Activator
  • Shu Uemura Whitefficient Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil

Whew! That’s quite a bumper box of goodies! :D

So far I’ve already dug into Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and you can betcha I’ll be purchasing this once I’ve finished up my sample. I’ve already been using Ralph Lauren’s Romance perfume, so having a travel vial allows me to keep it in the office.

Do you have a Bellabox subscription already? Or does this box tempt you to sign up?

(I am rather late with this post cos my Hong Kong trip and work came up, but better late than never!) :P

Last month, I was lucky enough to be Beetrice’s plus one at Bella Box’s High Tea for bloggers. We had no idea what was in store for us but I can tell you now that it was fun!

bellabox 01

The event was held at Arteastiq Tea Lounge @ Mandarin Gallery. It was my first time there and it would be a place I’d like to revisit – it seems very popular with the hip SG crowd, judging by the stream of people that came while we were there.

I have quite a number of pictures from the event after the jump so keep on reading! Read the rest of this entry »

Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous Shampoo and Conditioner

Filed Under (conditioner, haircare, shampoo) by rinnah on 27-02-2012

I first got to know about the shampoo and conditioner from Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous range in the November edition of my Bellabox subscription.

“To protect and nourish long and damaged hair, the luxe Italian hair masters at Davines have created a hair strengthening formula. To protect hair from breakage, Davines shampoo has active ingredients including spinach extract, rich in vitamin A and C, with antioxidant properties that make your hair stronger. The anti-breakage, lustrous conditioner helps smooth and condition long or damaged hair. An apricot butter formula, rich in vitamin A and C, adds shine and moisture to the hair. It also protects hair from damage caused by styling and heat.”

Davines MELU Shampoo

I have never loved the fragrance of a shampoo as much as I love the Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous shampoo. The texture of the shampoo is more liquidy compared to say, regular drugstore brands. It feels soft and light on the hands and on your hair and washing my hair has never been such a pleasure before! I found that the shampoo leaves my hair soft and manageable with little or no need for any additional conditioner. My hair feels light and bouncy after washing but sadly, it doesn’t have the lovely shine and luster I get with my L’Oreal Nutri Gloss Light shampoo. Haven’t seen any improvement in the hair fall area though, because my hair still falling like there’s no tomorrow.

While I absolutely loved the shampoo from Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous range, I can’t say the same for the conditioner.

Davines MELU Conditioner

The scent of the conditioner is not the same as the shampoo. It smells heavy and cloyingly sweet compared to the light and sweet fragrance of the shampoo. The texture of the conditioner feels more like a mask and it made my hair feel weighed down and I noticed that the oil build-up was extremely fast – I would feel oily within 12 to 16 hours. To make it sorta work for me, I found that I had to use very little amounts (think pea-sized), make sure I don’t apply it even halfway up my hair, just at the very ends and rinse extremely thoroughly. As in, when you think you’re done, go back and rinse again!

I reckon I would repurchase the shampoo based on the fragrance alone but I definitely won’t be repurchasing the conditioner once I’m done with the tub I received.

Note : It may be cheaper to get Davines haircare from Strawberrynet depending on your currency exchange rate.

Skin Factory Eye Dream Honey Patch

Filed Under (mask, skincare) by rinnah on 08-02-2012

Finally, I have gotten around to posting my first review of a product I received last year in the November edition of my Bellabox subscription! (I am seriously behind on all of my posting.)

skin factory eye dream honey patch

Skin Factory’s moisturising Eye Dream Honey Patch will hydrate, repair and soothe your entire eye area while working to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and eye puffiness. The combination of essential ingredients including honey, Syn-ake and witch hazel leaf extracts will leave your eyes feeling brighter and refreshed.

After a long period of partying and feasting which began even before Christmas and carried over to New Year’s and then to Chinese New Year, I was in the mood for some pampering over the weekend and decided to try out this under-eye patch. The instructions said to keep in the fridge for better effect, but since I had no immediate access to a fridge, I used it straight out from the packet.

The patches are made of hydrogel and shaped for the under eye area. The flexibility of hydrogel means that the patches conform and adhere well to your face. I liked that the sticky gel texture made the patches stick to my face without fear of having it fall off, plus the fact that I could comfortably use my glasses with the patch on. I did find that the patch itself is quite big as it covered not only the under eye area but also extended to the top half of my cheeks.

Initially for the first few minutes after applying, I could feel a slight stinging sensation. Not sure if it was the active ingredients at work or my sensitive skin, but since there was no redness or adverse reaction, I let it be. About 40 minutes later, my under eye area certainly felt tighter once I took off the patches. The slight puffiness I had before was reduced and my skin did look smoother. Of course, since this is only a mask I don’t expect the effects to be lasting but it did feel quite nice at the time. Heh.

I would consider this eye patch treatment to be nice to have at hand for those days when you’ve been working hard and need to relax but it’s not a must have.

Bellabox November 2011

Filed Under (branding, conditioner, cosmetics, haircare, serum, shampoo, skincare) by rinnah on 30-11-2011

I was uber excited at first to know that Singapore was getting a local version of the sample box trend that’s all the rage in US, UK and Australia.

Bellabox delivers the latest deluxe beauty products to your door, brand new and exclusive for you at SGD 15.00 a month. We handpick and deliver 5 of the most luxurious beauty products to hit the market. Discover new products you will love, and make new purchases with confidence.

I signed up for Bellabox about 3 months back during the preview before their official launching, but only received my first Bellabox this month after a long saga (I had multiple issues with ordering and the online payment via PayPal that resulted in my missing the cut-off date for the first edition Bellabox in October). I was pretty frustrated with the technical problems that put me on the sidelines watching other bloggers and Singapore beauty lovers tweet/blog/write about what they got last month so I guess my expectations were rather dampened by the time the November Bellabox arrived.

Nevertheless, there is always a thrill in receiving a package and opening presents. :)

Bellabox outer packaging

Your Bellabox experience starts when your pink Bellabox is delivered to the doorstep via Singapore registered post.

Bellabox within a box

Inside the pink Bellabox packaging sits another, smaller glossy box containing the sample products for the month, all nestled in confetti packaging. These products are custom selected for you based on the profile you fill up when you first register for the service.

What's in the November Bellabox

Here’s what I received in November’s Bellabox:

1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Trollop
2. Duchess Marden Damascena Anti-Wrinkle Serum
3. Korres Guava Body Butter
4. Skin Factory Eye Dream Honey Patch
5. Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous Shampoo
6. Davines Melu Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous Conditioner

Of all the products, I’d say that OCC’s Lip Tar and the Davines shampoo/conditioner set seem most value for money. After all, considering that 1 tube of Lip Tar normally retails at SGD 18.90, you’ve already gotten back the price of your monthly subscription. I was a mite disappointed with the size of Korres’ body butter sample sachet though – just one sachet seems rather miserly to me. Surely they could have coughed up another sachet which would allow users to better decide whether or not it works for them in more than just one or two uses.

All in, the jury is still out as I’m rather ambivalent about Bellabox at this point of time and will wait to see what’s in next month’s Bellabox before making any judgement calls.
